Bell Air and Scruffy Murphys Editorial

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ is proud to announce their recent admission as a member to the Australian Shop and Office Fitting Industry Association.

Expanding Trellis Doors

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ offers a range of economical, expanding trellis door and barrier solutions to assist retailers in safeguarding against robbery and pilfering.

Simon Cant is the proprietor of City Cellars, a boutique bottle store in the heart of the revitalised King Street Wharf Precinct at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

Simon recently installed trellis security doors to the front of his store. During the day the doors tuck out of the way to ensure an unobstructed view of his merchandise. At night they provide maximum through-vision enhancing store presentation. Simon says, “Since installing my trellis doors I can sleep well knowing that my stock is adequately protected. I also like it that unwelcome elements are kept away from the entrance area to my store at night. I place an emphasis on in-store presentation and am happy that at night passers-by can view my store, my entire range, and any in-store promotions that I may wish to run.”

Security for Retailers

These expanding trellis doors are used to secure the shop-fronts of many retailers, acting as a deterrent to ram-raids, break-ins, and vandalism. Simon said that he would be happy to recommend The Australian Trellis Door Company™ and its products to other businesses.

Another satisfied customer is the Bell Air Café at the Met Centre in the city in Sydney. They use a slightly different trellis product known as a Mobile Trackless Trellis Barrier, a system which operates on trolleys and which can be wheeled away during the day and stored out of sight. This system is very economical and provides enormous flexibility, allowing proprietors to close off awkward openings, which are typically very difficult to secure.

These are the same barriers used by Sydney’s 24-hour Scruffy Murphy’s Pub. There the doors were put in as a preventative measure. There are three bars in the pub and some are closed at certain times of the day. The doors prevent any customers from straying into the closed bars and helping themselves to drinks.

The doors also take away the temptation for staff to steal stock.

Scruffy Murphy’s Cecilia Molloy says:

“All in all the doors provide security and peace of mind that there is no theft from those areas/bars that are closed off at different times of the day.

I recommend this product to all similar businesses as a theft prevention strategy, where sections of the business housing stock or valuables might be closed off at certain times of trading hours.”

King Street Wharf Editorial

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ supplies and installs economical, expanding steel trellis doors and barriers to secure most commercial, retail, industrial and domestic applications.

Expanding Trellis Doors

These expanding trellis doors are invisible by day, while at night providing formidable security against break-ins, vandalism, and ram-raids, whilst allowing maximum through-vision.

Their doors are used by retail tenants on street-fronts and in shopping centres countrywide. These doors can be straight, curved or pivoting, and can come with a shade cloth backing. Simon Cant, the proprietor of City Cellars, a boutique bottle store in the heart of the revitalised King Street Wharf Precinct at Sydney’s Darling Harbour, says “since installing my trellis doors I can sleep well knowing that my stock is adequately protected. I also like it that unwelcome elements are kept away from the entrance area to my store at night. I place an emphasis on in-store presentation and am happy that at night passers-by can view my store, my entire range, and any in-store promotions that I may wish to run.”

Security for Retailers

The company’s range of mobile trackless barriers provide flexibility, allowing proprietors to close off openings which are difficult to secure. These systems are popular for food and kiosk retailers within shopping centres, such as the Bell Air Café at the Met Centre in the city in Sydney.

Due to superior product quality and customer service, their doors are increasingly used by major retail chains and independent retailers, shopping centre operators, commercial tenants, builders, government, architects and designers.

Egress Plate and Handle

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ offers a range of steel trellis doors as an economic solution for securing shop-fronts in shopping centres and on street-frontage.

Steel Trellis Doors – The Economic Solution

These trellis doors are becoming increasingly popular in shopping centres as the main (only) store front door (no glass) due to their strength, through-visibility, competitive pricing point and low maintenance. These doors represent a significant cost saving for prospective tenants compared to the traditional forms of horizontal folding closures and vertical shutters. They are becoming increasingly preferred as the door of choice for closing off stores selling electronic equipment, white-goods and other high value items.

Egress-Handle

The company has recently developed a new egress-handle and protective plate solution to enable easy key-less opening and exit from the inside of the store in an emergency situation.

The plate is constructed from high-strength thick Lexan sheeting, which is cut, bent and slotted to enable it to slide with the concertina action of the trellis door. A layer of 3M black vinyl film is applied to the Lexan to block out external visibility of the handle position (Lockwood lock and handle) situated on the inside of the plate/door.

Someone trapped on the inside of the store need merely push down the lever handle and slide the trellis door sideways to gain egress from the store.

For entry to the store, another lock (ATDC Three-point Alumax Lock) is fitted to the centre of the door for easy key-turn access. This lock may be keyed-alike to other restrictive locking systems.

Keep Your Roller Door Open While Preventing Access to your Factory

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ (ATDC™) offers a mobile access barrier which is proving popular in restricting access to manufacturing and construction environments, while still permitting roller doors and loading docks to remain open.

Mobile Trackless Access Barrier

The S04-1™ Mobile Trackless Trellis System can be used to restrict access to loading docks and warehouse roller door entries, preventing the public from wandering into factories and warehouses during trading hours. The system is normally fixed one end, and lockable on the other end, however it operates on trolleys and can be wheeled away when not in use and stored out of sight. The system can also be locked into the floor in the absence of suitable side-fixing points. This system is very economical and provides enormous flexibility, allowing the closing off of awkward openings which may be typically very difficult to secure.

The S04-1™ trellis barriers can also assist in providing safe environments on construction sites which are near to pedestrian traffic. Bovis Lend Lease recently used these trellis barriers at their shopping centre extension in Charlestown, NSW. Bovis were not allowed to do construction work at night due noise considerations, so they used these barriers to cordon off mall areas under construction, from the trading areas thereby allowing construction work to continue during normal centre operating hours.

The Shutters Lifted – Security Can Look Good

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ recently installed its expanding trellis security doors at Bang & Olufsen’s new flagship store at Sydney’s Double Bay.

Expanding Trellis Security Doors

Bang & Olufsen have used The Australian Trellis Door Company™ previously and were happy with their product, service and pricing.

“We absolutely had to have security doors and roller shutters were not an option due to our curved shop-front window. Due to the particular needs with the curved window, The Australian Trellis Door Company™ suggested the best ideas, giving a custom solution” said Trevor Ridout, Bang & Olufsen’s Regional Manager. Trellis doors can accommodate a curve radius as tight as 600mm.

During the day the doors tuck out of the way to ensure an unobstructed view of merchandise. At night they provide maximum through-vision enhancing store presentation. Mr Ridout says that he has already been approached by people in need of security who were impressed by the “neat look of the trellis doors”, which due to their unique design require minimal stacking of the door’s material when closed but which give maximum visibility when open across the shop-front windows.

Security Solutions for Retailers

These expanding trellis doors are used to secure the shop-fronts of many retailers, acting as a deterrent to ramraids, break-ins, and vandalism. Mr Ridout said that he would be happy to recommend The Australian Trellis Door Company™ and its products to other businesses. The range of trellis doors supplied by The Australian Trellis Door Company™ is very extensive with many options such as 90-degree pivot rotations, a completely trackless system and a triple slamlock option.

The Door Story – Mobile Trackless Barriers

The Australian Trellis Door Company’s (ATDC™) S04-1™ Mobile Trackless Trellis Barrier System is proving to be an outstanding success.

Mobile Trackless Barriers

ATDC recently installed over 120 lineal metres of Trackless Barriers at Gosford Town Centre, a recently redeveloped shopping centre on the NSW Central Coast.

The job description was to secure 8 kiosks situated in the middle of the centre. Being kiosks there was no super structure and no fixing points or supports. There were many angled lines and almost 120 lineal metres of space to secure and no place to store the doors.

Trackless Versatility

The versatile S04-1™ trackless barrier easily solved and overcame all these difficulties. Being a trackless barrier, the absence of fixing points posed no problems (since the system is self-supporting) and it could span an unlimited width at any angle and without the need for any mullions. Storage space was not an issue as the systems could be stored off the premises.

The S04-1’s are proving popular in solving many Occupational Health and Safety issues; for instance they provide a protective barrier against machinery and also can be used to secure loading docks, preventing the public from wandering into factories and warehouses during trading hours.

Removable Lockable Post

A recent innovation by ATDC includes the removable lockable post, which can be used in conjunction with the trackless barrier offering a higher level of security when required. A typical example includes securing an area in a shopping centre between 2 (two) glass shop fronts. The removable lockable posts allow lock up without attaching onto the glass shop front, by locking down onto a laser cut stainless steel plate positioned on the floor.

Another recent innovation includes a specially developed manual handling trolley, which allows a large span trackless barrier to be operated by a single person.

Economic Shopfront Closures

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ offers a range of steel trellis doors as an economic solution for securing shopping centre shop-fronts, kiosks and food court expanses.

Mobile Trackless Trellis Barriers

The company offers both mobile trackless trellis barriers and fixed trellis door systems (with top track and optional bottom track).

The mobile trackless barriers are popular for closing off retail kiosks, mall expanses, and shop-fronts requiring a moderate level of security. This system is used by many retail kiosk operators, such as Boost Juice and Coffee Club, and by shopping centre operators nationwide, such as Westifield and Centro. They use them mainly to secure specific areas of the centre whilst allowing others to continue trading. The system is versatile (does not need fixing points) and economical.

Fixed Trellis Door Systems

Then there are the fixed trellis systems which are becoming increasingly popular in shopping centres as the main (only) store front door (no glass). They have just installed them for many stores at the new Westfield Bondi, including Prouds, Dick Smith Electronics, Warner Brothers amongst others.

Their new popularity as shop-front closures are due to their strength, through-visibility, competitive pricing point and low maintenance. These doors represent a significant cost saving for prospective tenants compared to the traditional forms of horizontal folding closures and vertical shutters.

The doors can operate in a straight line or may be curved through a radius of 400 degrees. For storage purposes, these doors are folded away to the side of the shop-front and may be recessed into a cupboard.

The doors are top-hung. There are a number of bottom track options including fixed, recessed, hinged or removable. Use of a bottom track can be avoided completely and replaced by the use of patio bolts. Both fixed and mobile systems fold away to 15% of their extended size (can be split each side). They have a unique locking system which locks instantly when slammed closed, without needing to turn a key.

Permashield™ Shutters – Solutions for Club Operators to Open Air Smoking Provisions

The recent introduction of new legislation banning smoking indoors in licensed venues requires smoking areas to be open to the elements so that smoke is allowed to blow away.

Permashield™ Roller Shutters

Venue operators have been putting significant effort and expense into improving their gardens and outdoor areas to accommodate smokers. Permashield™ Roller Shutters allow such operators, such as the Sporties Club at Belmont, NSW, to move their poker machines into their covered (outdoor) areas which comply with the above smoking provisions, and to install such shutters around these machines allowing them to secure these areas at night, providing protection against intruders and the outdoor elements.

Product of ATDC

Permashield™ Roller Shutters are a product of The Australian Trellis Door Company™ (ATDC™). Their shutters are sleek and unobtrusive, and blend in with the overall appearance of the facility. During trading they roll up totally from view leaving the entries unobstructed. Certain models can be supplied with an overhead pelmet box to totally conceal the rolled shutter-curtain when in the open position. Their wide-span shutter range can close areas up to 6m in one piece.

Wide Range of Shutters

Permashield™ Shutters include a wide range of suitable shutters, from enamel-baked, roll-formed aluminium with polyurethane in-fills, to powder-coated, extruded aluminium profiles. Their non-corrosive characteristics mean that maintenance is nil. Shutters can be manually or electronically operated, including remote-control operation. UPS Battery Back-up facilities can be supplied to provide a back-up power supply during power failures.

Free Consultation

ATDC is a national company and they offer a complete service from a free measure and quote through to design, consultancy, installation and maintenance. For further information about their range of shutter products please refer https://www.trellisdoors.com.au or call toll free on 1800-657-435.

Barriers for Occupational Health and Safety

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ (ATDC™) offers a range of steel trellis doors and barriers which are proving popular in solving many Occupational Health and Safety issues in manufacturing and construction environments.

Mobile Trackless Barriers

Their S04-1™ Mobile Trackless Trellis System provides a protective barrier for dangerous machinery in manufacturing environments. It can be used to restrict access to certain dangerous areas of the factory while machines are in operation which could cause injury to passers-by. It operates on trolleys and can be wheeled away when not in use and stored out of sight. This system is very economical and provides enormous flexibility, allowing the closing off of awkward openings which may be typically very difficult to secure.

These barriers can further be used to secure loading docks and warehouse roller door entries, preventing the public from wandering into factories and warehouses during trading hours.

Providing Safe Environments

The S04-1™ trellis barriers can also assist in providing safe environments on construction sites which are near to pedestrian traffic. Bovis Lend Lease recently used these trellis barriers at their shopping centre extension in Charlestown, NSW. Bovis were not allowed to do construction work at night due noise considerations, so they used these barriers to cordon off mall areas under construction, from the trading areas thereby allowing construction work to continue during normal centre operating hours.

The systems are secured on each end by a slam-lock facility which locks the barrier to a side fixing point. If no suitable side-fixing point exists then one can use ATDC’s removable lockable post. A typical example includes securing an area between machinery, shelving or glass walls where side locking onto these surfaces may not be possible. The removable lockable post locks down onto a laser cut stainless steel plate positioned on the floor, creating the required fixing point.
