ATDC is one of a select group  of non–Queensland based commercial/industrial door manufacturers licensed to supply and install overhead doors throughout the state of QLD.

ATDC holds the highly prized Queensland Building and Construction Commission licence (QBCC license) which permits companies and individuals to legally carry out building related work with a value exceeding $3300.

The stringent statutory licensing requirements in QLD were originally introduced to promote confidence in the QLD construction industry by ensuring proper building standards and remedies for defective building work and also promoting the safety of both consumers and the general public.

Accordingly, developers, builders, shop and office fitout companies (and the general public at large) should always ensure their contractors are fully licensed in QLD prior to engaging them.

ATDC’s license is in the class of Non-structural Metal fabrication and Installation.

ATDC Scours Potential Hazards for Portable Barrier Installation

ATDC’s recent installation of  100 lineal metres of portable barriers for Westpoint Growers had some potential hazards which had to be overcome prior to any works being carried out.

On the instructions of management at the QIC owned Westpoint Blacktown, ATDC arranged for an external contractor to scan below the concrete floor surface for potential Reo or conduit lying just beneath the finished floor. This was a potential hazard given that ATDC were required to drill into the floor at various positions in order to stabilize and secure the barrier installation with shootbolt locks. Positive locations had to be clearly marked out by the scanner and then ATDC’s installers had to carefully navigate their floor drilling to avoid these potentially hazardous positions.

Yet another example of market leading ATDC’s close attention to detail, quality and to workplace health and safety.

An innovative Retractable Gate for a Driveway Entrance Application

Trackless gate
Trackless gate

ATDC has recently installed its aluminium to the driveway entry at Kurunjang Early Learning Centre near Melton in Melbourne.

This lightweight  biparting gate is  secured each end to heavy duty extruded aluminium RHS posts which have been embedded in solid concrete footings to provide extra stability. As the gates retract backwards they pivot and rotate at each end so as to occupy virtually no side stacking space at all. The all aluminium system has world class anti-corrosion qualities which is important given it is installed out in the open and exposed to the elements.

Project managers for this job were Kingdom Projects of Thomastown, Victoria.

Security Doors and Shutters for Hairdressers, Barbers, Beauty Salons

An interesting trend  is the widespread proliferation of barber shops across Australia which are appearing not only in the major shopping centres but also in neighbourhood centres, strip malls and stand alone stores.

ATDC has seen a surge in demand for its popular security doors and shutters not only for these barber shops but also for hairdressing salons and Beauty Salons. The major reasons for the popularity is the appeal of ATDC’s heritage looking old style security doors and shutters which retract sideways out of the way when not in use so as to be almost totally invisible. These doors enhance the older style look and feel of these outlets.

The main photograph above shows a recent installation at House of Barbers at Macarthur Square in Cambpelltown. Project managers were Camden Park Constructions.

Unique Security Doors and Shutters for Jewellery Stores, Duty Free Stores, Pawnbrokers

ATDC supplies a unique range of high end security doors and shutters which are often used to secure Jewellery Stores, Duty Free Stores and Pawnbroker shops.

This barrier range presents a formidable deterrent by night when the businesses are locked and closed however during trading hours these security doors and shutters fold completely out of the way either to the side of the opening or, alternatively, they can  roll up above the opening. In either case the customer’s premises are completely unobstructed during trading hours and in this way a customer friendly environment is presented to the public instead of a permanently grilled, fortress-like appearance.

Overhead Doors – A masterclass in storage space minimization

ATDC’s Side-by-Side overhead retractable door system is an ingenious concept in storage space minimization whilst being quite simple in its execution.

Through a simple system of parallel overhead tracks (double or triple track configuration) and aided by a series of seamless up/down locking mechanisms, the side stacking storage space for these doors can be reduced to a mere 6% of the overall opening span which is being secured.

Attached is a photograph of a recent such installation by ATDC for Oakleigh Gourmet Deli at Oakleigh Central in Melbourne, the specifying architect was Docklands based Elvin Tan Design Studio.
