Removable Lockable Bars Provide Easy Exit in the Case of Fire

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ (ATDC™) has engineered a unique security barrier that allows emergency egress in the event of fire, with its removable lockable window bar system.

Removable Lockable Bars

Ideal for securing both homes and businesses, the removable security bars are fitted on the internal part of windows, allowing for quick removal for emergency exit.

The system is unique with ATDC being the only manufacturer of a product of this kind in Australia, and the product is fashioned on the concept of the old style gun rack storage unit. The original design originates out of Utah in the USA, and this quality product is now wholly manufactured in Australia. The vertical steel bars are manufactured from steel for extra strength and the tamper resistant exclusive locking mechanism makes these steel bars easy to remove for a quick emergency exit or to clean the glass.

How it Works
R01_2

A heavy duty extruded aluminium top and bottom track are both secured with concealed fixings, making them even stronger and more resistant to break-ins. It is the bottom track extrusion that houses the locking mechanism, completely concealing it, while the top track serves as the receiving end of the vertical steel bars.

Residential Applications

Residential applications for the removable security bars include protecting mainly windows from break in. The bars allow you the homeowner to enjoy your home and the fresh air, day or night, safe and secure. It is generally suitable for securing windows up to a height of 1500mm, and this height can be exceeded by reinforcing the steel vertical bars with metal inserts.

Commercial Applications

Commercial applications include securing windows to schools, day care centres, council depots, TAFE colleges, hospitals, doctor’s surgeries, and universities, in each case offering not only security but also the option of emergency egress in the event of fire, for fire safety and security.

The removable security bars are available in a wide range of powder-coated finishes to blend in with almost any colour scheme. It comes with a 12 month warranty on defective materials and workmanship, and a 5 year installation guarantee.

Barrier Solutions to Open Air Smoking Provisions

Legislation Bans Smoking Indoors

Last year saw the introduction of new legislation banning smoking indoors across NSW’s 3,700 licensed venues. The legislation allows smoking in areas which are 25 per cent open to the elements (known as the “75/25” open air provision), whilst smoke needs to be allowed to be blown away.

Venue operators have been putting significant effort and expense into improving their gardens and outdoor areas to accommodate the smokers.

Mobile Trackless Trellis Barriers

One relatively inexpensive product used by some of these venue operators to assist compliance with the 75/25 rules, is the Mobile Trackless Trellis Barrier, available from the Australian Trellis Door Company™.

The open-style nature of these expanding steel barriers allows smoke to blow away. They are mobile, operate on a series of trolleys and castors, so that they can be used for the erection of temporary enclosures, wheeled away when not in use and stored out of sight. This system is available up to a height of 2,500mm, is very economical and provides enormous flexibility, allowing the closing off of make-shift and awkward openings which may be typically very difficult to enclose.

Slam-lock Facility

The systems are secured on each end by a slam-lock facility which locks the barrier to a side fixing point. Shoot bolts drop intermittently into the floor helping to stabilize the system from sideways movement, especially on uneven areas. If no suitable side-fixing point exists then one could use ATDC’s removable lockable posts, which lock down onto a laser cut stainless steel plate positioned on the floor, creating the required fixing point.

The Mobile Trackless Security Barrier System for Shopping Centres

The Australian Trellis Door Company’s™ (ATDC™) S04-1 Mobile Trackless Trellis Barrier for rent or Mobile Barriers to buy are proving to be an outstanding success.

ATDC recently installed over 120 lineal metres of Trackless Barriers at Gosford Town Centre, a recently redeveloped shopping centre on the NSW Central Coast.

The Mobile Trackless Trellis Barrier System

The Project

The job description was to secure 8 kiosks situated in the middle of the centre. Being kiosks there was no super structure and no fixing points or supports. There were many angled lines and almost 120 lineal metres of space to secure, and no place to store the doors.

Versatile and Self-Supporting

The versatile S04-1™ trackless barrier easily solved and overcame all these difficulties. Being a trackless barrier, the absence of fixing points posed no problems since the system is self-supporting, and it could span an unlimited width at any angle and without the need for any mullions. Storage space was not an issue as the systems could be stored off the premises.

A Similar barrier installation occurred at Centro Galleria in Perth, WA. “The trellis system has proven to be a very effective deterrent as well as maintaining the ambience of the centre. We are very happy with our purchase,” said Operations Manager Dan Boyle.

Removable Lockable Post

ATDC have developed a removable lockable post, which can be used in conjunction with the trackless barrier offering a higher level of security when required. A typical example includes securing an area in a shopping centre between 2 (two) glass shop fronts. The removable lockable posts allow lock up without attaching onto the glass shop front, by locking down onto a laser cut stainless steel plate positioned on the floor.

Another recent innovation includes a specially developed manual handling trolley, which allows a large span trackless barrier to be operated by a single person.

Security barriers allow visibility into showroom spaces while still providing protection. This makes them ideal for areas where display and presentation are important alongside security.

How can security mobile barriers be customised for different industrial applications?

Security solutions can be tailored in size, material, finish, to suit specific openings, usage patterns, and environmental conditions, ensuring optimal performance for each site.

Why is corrosion resistance important for warehouse security barriers?

Warehouses and loading docks may be exposed to moisture, chemicals, or outdoor conditions. Corrosion-resistant materials like galvanized or powder-coated steel help extend the lifespan of the installation.

Legal Claims Increasing

The centre owners are facing an increased number of legal claims from tenants whose outlets have been targeted after a break-in at the centre, while customers are also lifting the number of legal claims for compensation related to security and safety issues.

Jonathan Kaplan, ATDC Principal

Principal of ATDC, Mr Jonathan Kaplan, said “We have seen a strong increase in demand from both large and small shopping centre owners, who are keen to secure their premises and avoid legal actions from their tenants if break-ins occur.

“It is important that the owners protect the centres’ perimeters correctly to both protect their multi-million dollar investments and those of their tenants, many of whom are taking strong measures to secure their outlets,” he added.

S03™ and S06™ Trellis Doors of ATDC Surpasses Australian Standards for Security Testing

Australia’s leading security door business the Australian Trellis Door Company™ (ATDC™) has achieved outstanding results from tests undertaken by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) for its S03™ and S06™ trellis security doors.

ATDC Meets Rigorous Security Standards

The Tests

Tested against the Australian Standard AS5039-2008 for Security Doors, the S03™ and S06™ Trellis Doors underwent an anti-jemmy test and a dynamic impact test for security, passing and becoming the only trellis security door products on the Australian market that have been tested against these strict conditions.

The two tests were carried out by an accredited NATA testing facility, and are two of the main testing requirements for security doors under the Australian Standards.

From Jonathan Kaplan

Commenting on the test results, Principal of ATDC, Mr Jonathan Kaplan said, “The standard is designed to provide consumers with specifications covering the general requirements and performance of security doors. Whilst the standard acknowledges that security doors are not intruder proof, it looks at the screen being strong enough to survive most attempts at forced entry and accordingly to provide the consumer with a certain degree of security.

“Our products are put through simulated break in tests to verify their strength and durability, and the results speak for themselves. This recognition is kudos to our company’s excellent manufacturing and high quality product standards for our security doors,” he added.

The Anti-Jemmy Test

The Anti-Jemmy test simulates an intruder trying to break into a premise using a lever such as a screwdriver to break the lock. The test is extremely stringent with the simulated attack on the door being carried out over a lengthy period of time and with multiple attempts on each of the locking points. The ATDC trellis security door passed this test mainly due to the design of its 3-contact point lock and specially engineered anti-jemmy locking extrusion.

The Dynamic Impact Test

The Dynamic Impact test simulates a burglar kicking the security door in an attempt to break through. The test involves swinging a bag laden with 44 kilograms of heavy lead against the security door. The test is carried out 5 times in succession to see if it can sufficiently impact the security of the door. The ATDC trellis security door passed this test mainly due its specially designed fully framed surround which spreads the load of the impact. Further, the heavy steel mesh infill complements this strength.

High Strength Security Doors to Prevent Ram Raid in Australia

Leading Australian security door group, The Australian Trellis Door Company™ (ATDC™), has worked with many companies to secure there premises from ram raid and other crimes.

ATDC Protecting Retailers

ATDC has protected Camilla and Pubs and Liquer Outlets with our range of high-strength security solutions.

Reducing Theft From Camilla

Following a wave of well publicised ram-raids and repeated break-ins at their Bondi, Paddington and Darlinghurst stores, renowned women’s fashion retailer, Camilla, has installed heavy duty security barriers from our wide and diverse range to secure their premises.

We have the largest range of barrier security products anywhere in Australia. These include steel security doors, trellis security doors, stainless steel security screens, security roller shutters and more.

Heavy Duty Extruded Security Roller Shutters

Products installed for Camilla include our heavy duty extruded security roller shutter which has a double walled aluminium extrusion for extra strength. These security shutters roll up into a slim line pelmet box at the top to conceal what would otherwise be an unsightly overhead roll.

These security roller shutters are easy to operate manually being spring loaded and they are key lockable. Electric options are also available including with key-switch operation or remote controls. Our roller shutters can be completely solid or they can be completely transparent to allow through visibility for an un-obstructed display of merchandise when locked. Other roller shutters in our range allow for free flow of fresh air, ventilation and sunlight.

Steel Security Window Grilles

Other security barriers installed for Camilla include our steel security window grilles which are manufactured from solid steel bars maximum strength. Being hot-dipped galvanized prior to powdercoating helps protect these steel security grilles from corrosion.

Trellis Doors

We also supplied trellis doors to Camilla from our wide and diverse range of barriers. These concertina trellis doors fold out of the way when not in use allowing for maximum showcasing of merchandise during trading hours.

ATDC has successfully protected another ram raid victim, Camilla, after two of its Sydney outlets were ram raided last year. The company’s new S10™ Aluminium T-Max security door has a near perfect record for protecting retailers against ram raid and other break-ins.

Concertina Style Doors

The concertina style door is an expanding security system, comprising of an expanding trellis framed pattern, with rigid top suspension track and bottom guide rail, with other retail clients being Tiffany’s Prouds and Bang & Olufsen.

Invisible by day, formidable by night

Reducing Theft for Pubs and Liquor Outlets

With the increasing number of ram raids and robberies in pubs and hotels, security is at the forefront of the minds of shop and business owners and managers, who are looking to protect their premises and reduce the risk of unauthorised entry and theft.

ATDC™ currently supplies Australasia’s most diverse range of precision engineered expanding trellis security doors in both steel and aluminium, and has successfully protected a number of businesses in the hospitality industry with its economical, expanding trellis door and barrier solutions.

Groups using our Products

Current businesses that have successfully utilised the ATDC range of security doors include the Solotel Group for its pubs, including the Kings Cross Hotel, The Sheaf and The Regent Hotel, as well as Dan Murphy’s, The Marriott, Accor and Ibis, as well as the BWS and Liquorland chains of liquor outlets.

BWS Project

The Australian retail chain of liquor stores owned by Woolworths Limited – is a regular user of ATDC’s trellis security doors and has installed them at over 30 of their BWS outlets across the country.

Pleased with the product and the experiences of dealing with ATDC, Ms Karen Price, Project Manager for NSW/ACT for the BWS Group said, “The ATDC Trellis Doors are part of our specifications to builders when renovating existing stores or acquiring new stores, and we have been using the product for many years with great success. It works really well in terms of what we require for our business.

“Being a liquor outlet, the BWS stores are an common target for break-ins and thefts, and the trellis doors work as a great deterrent for thieves, while protecting our stock, and providing peace of mind and safety for staff. Our dealings with ATDC have been great, as they have always been very pleasant, efficient and most of all flexible. They are our preferred vendor for security doors,” she added.

Karen said that she is delighted to always recommend ATDC and its products to other businesses she comes in contact with.

ATDC’s popular Mobile Trackless Trellis Barrier, a system which operates on trolleys and which can be wheeled away during the day and stored out of sight, is an economical security solution which provides enormous flexibility, allowing proprietors to close off awkward openings, which are typically very difficult to secure.

Scruffy Murphy’s Project

These are the same barriers used by Sydney’s 24-hour pub Scruffy Murphy’s. The doors were installed here as a preventative measure. There are three bars in the pub and some are closed at certain times of the day. The doors prevent any customers from straying into the closed bars and helping themselves to drinks. The doors also take away the temptation for staff to steal stock.

Commenting on the doors, Scruffy Murphy’s Ms Cecilia Molloy said, “All in all the doors provide security and peace of mind that there is no theft from those areas/bars that are closed off at different times of the day. I recommend this product to all similar businesses as a theft prevention strategy, where sections of the business housing stock or valuables might be closed off at certain times of trading hours.”

The Australian Trellis Door Company™ is proud to announce their recent admission as a member to the Australian Shop and Office Fitting Industry Association.

City Cellars Project

Simon Cant is the proprietor of City Cellars, a boutique bottle store in the heart of the revitalised King Street Wharf Precinct at Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

Simon recently installed trellis security doors to the front of his store. During the day the doors tuck out of the way to ensure an unobstructed view of his merchandise. At night they provide maximum through-vision enhancing store presentation.

Simon says, “Since installing my trellis doors I can sleep well knowing that my stock is adequately protected. I also like it that unwelcome elements are kept away from the entrance area to my store at night. I place an emphasis on in-store presentation and am happy that at night passers-by can view my store, my entire range, and any in-store promotions that I may wish to run.”

These expanding trellis doors are used to secure the shop-fronts of many retailers, acting as a deterrent to ram-raids, break-ins, and vandalism. Simon said that he would be happy to recommend The Australian Trellis Door Company™ and its products to other businesses.

Bell Air Cafe Project

Another satisfied customer is the Bell Air Café at the Met Centre in the city in Sydney. They use a slightly different trellis product known as a Mobile Trackless Trellis Barrier, a system which operates on trolleys and which can be wheeled away during the day and stored out of sight.

This system is very economical and provides enormous flexibility, allowing proprietors to close off awkward openings, which are typically very difficult to secure.

From Jonathan Kaplan

Principal of ATDC, Mr. Jonathan Kaplan, said “It is time retailers took quick action to protect their premises against these disgraceful criminals who destroy property. Our products have close to a 100 per cent record of stopping crimes being committed against commercial and residential properties.”

S10™ Max Aluminium Door

The S10™ Max Aluminium Security Door is custom designed to secure any door, window or passage opening, while allowing easy operation, security, build quality and flow of air and light, protecting staff at all times and preventing break-ins 24 hours a day.

The door features a unique quick-action, keyless style lock for enhanced protection. This locking system has a 12mm pin and a double hook for extra strength. With three locking points in one lock, the door can be slam locked for instant security and protection.

Folds Away for Convenience

Unlike fixed security screens, the S10™ Aluminium T-Max range folds away to one fifth of its size when not in use, allowing the door to disappear from view when not in use, and making it ideal for retail and shop front security.

Offering one of the world’s finest security barriers, the retracting security door is a result of three years of research and development.

Aircraft Grade Materials

Manufactured from hardened aircraft grade aluminium and stainless steel, the door is fully framed for extra strength, and offers affordable security in an aesthetic design.

Custom Design

Designed to suit any interior, the door range is available in an anodized or powder-coated finish, which can be manufactured to a range of colour schemes from the Dulux range, to suit almost any environment.

The S10™ Aluminium T-Max trellis door can be custom designed by the ATDC design team to suit individual requirements and is custom-made to fit perfectly. The security doors are now available Australia wide.

Warranties

The door is offered with a five-year warranty when maintained in accordance with the product’s care guidelines to offer peace of mind, and features anti-corrosive properties to stand the test of time.
