ATDC has completed an installation of its heavy duty lockable barriers at the new community and high performance centre for the South Sydney Rabbitoh’s at Heffron Park in Maroubra, Sydney.

These steel barriers are portable,trackless, relocatable and lockable and are a very effective access control device.

Available at a height of 2m or 2.5m and in a black or white powdercoat finish, these double diamond barriers can comply in certain circumstances with the dynamic impact and simulated climbing guidelines of the Australian Standards’ Temporary Fencing and Hoardings provisions and also with numerous OH+S safety regulations. Furthermore, BCA compliance for emergency egress can also be achieved in certain circumstances, making this a very versatile and effective barrier.

This versatile solid roller shutter is capable of spanning an overall width of 5500mm in one section but can achieve unlimited spans by the use of centre mullions. The curtain comprises 86mm high solid extruded aluminium slats, forming a solid barrier. Manual (with counterbalance helical springs) or motorised options are available with the motorised solution recommended for wide and high openings.

The shutter is slotted for ventilation and the slots are secured by a perforated mesh infill. Upon receiving instructions from management at the QIC-owned Westpoint Blacktown, ATDC took proactive steps to address potential hazards associated with the installation process.

One such hazard involved the presence of reinforcing steel (Reo) or conduit beneath the concrete floor surface, posing a risk during drilling activities required for stabilising and securing the barrier installation with shootbolt locks.

 

Comprehensive Hazard Mitigation Strategy

To mitigate these risks, ATDC collaborated with an external contractor to conduct a thorough scan below the concrete floor surface. This scan aimed to identify and mark out positive locations where drilling could be safely performed without encountering hazardous obstructions.

This meticulous planning ensured that ATDC’s installers could navigate the floor drilling process with precision, avoiding potential hazards and safeguarding the integrity of the installation.

Springetts Arcade is an institution in Bowral opened in 1972 and is still in the hands of its original owners, the Springett Family.

With 50 stores within the arcade, The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) had to come up with shutter solutions that would work well for a wide range of stores, offering accessibility, security, and aesthetic value. It’s also a historic building, meaning care had to be taken in the design and installation to keep the arcade’s antique value.

 

The Roller Shutter Project:

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) were engaged by Mark Springett, the current proprietor, to design, supply and install its market-leading transparent roller shutters to all tenancies throughout the ground floor in the property’s recent upgrade.

When project managing a transparent roller shutter installation, especially in a large property such as this, which is both street-facing and with many shops inside, clever planning has to go into the design choices to ensure aesthetics that not only wow but are appropriate for a commercial setting.

 

What We Used:

These roller shutters are attractive and elegant and capable of spanning an aperture of 5.5m wide x 4m high. The translucent feature allows shoppers and passers-by a full view of the merchandise on display in the retail tenancies even when these stores are locked and closed.
