ATDC’s FC1 model folding, stackable aluminium framed door is ideal for securing under cover applications in your home such as carport entries, alfresco areas, internal doorways and passageways and as room dividers for partitioning.
Folding and stacking on a heavy-duty extruded aluminium overhead suspension track and using commercial grade top hangers and wheel carriages, ATDC’s premium grade doors slide effortlessly and lock easily through a series of intermediate up/down locks so as to create a seamless and long-lasting door closure. As they have no floor track, they are best suited to undercover applications as they are not sealed from the weather.

What challenges do outdoor sports pavilions face that make roller shutters necessary?
Outdoor pavilions are exposed to weather, vandalism, and unauthorised access. Roller shutters provide a secure barrier that protects canteens, storage areas, and equipment when the facilities are not in use. They also help shield windows and doorways from the impact of balls such as cricket balls, tennis balls, footy balls.
How do commercial-grade roller shutters protect canteen and kiosk areas in sports venues?
They create a strong, lockable barrier over serving counters and openings, preventing theft and damage while still allowing the area to be easily opened for events and game days.
Is corrosion resistance important for roller shutters installed in outdoor sporting facilities?
Yes, shutters in these environments are often exposed to rain, humidity, and coastal conditions. Corrosion-resistant materials like aluminum help ensure long-term durability and reduce maintenance requirements.
How do roller shutters maintain functionality in high-use community environments?
They are designed for frequent operation with durable components and smooth mechanisms, allowing volunteers and staff to open and close them quickly during busy events.
What design features help roller shutters blend into pavilion structures?
Custom finishes and compact roll-up designs allow shutters to integrate neatly into the building, maintaining the appearance of the pavilion while adding security.
How do roller shutters support safe storage of sports equipment?
They secure storage rooms and access points, helping protect valuable gear from theft or damage and ensuring equipment is available when needed.
What types of openings can be secured in a sports pavilion with roller shutters?
They can be installed on serving windows, storage rooms, entry points, and large open bays, providing flexible security solutions across different parts of the facility.

ATDC’s Double Diamond security mobile trellis door is streaks ahead of the marketplace in barrier systems offering unique advantages that no alternative portable system can come close to matching. It is available ex-stock Australia for outright purchase or for short term rental or hire.
With the pitch between the steel lattice cross members being so tightly interwoven together, the Double Diamond was able to easily pass the test for the “Foothold Aperture ’’ provision of the Australian Standards AS4687-2007 Temporary Fencing and Hoarding as well as the Simulated Climbing Test. The Dynamic Impact test was another hurdle that was easily overcome and passed
Accordingly, this makes it difficult (in certain circumstances) to climb over this very robust barrier and hence makes it both a very effective crowd control device and a great loss prevention too.
The attached photographs show the Double Diamond security mobile trellis door at an installation for both King of the Pack retail kiosk in Maitland, NSW and similarly for The Rooftop Terrace/Bar in Pitt Street in the Sydney CBD (This latter job project managed and specified by LendLease.

Shopping Centre Requirements
Shopping centre operators have an obligation to adequately manage risks relating to the safety of pedestrian movement through their malls and centres. ATDC has completed a thorough WHS risk assessment (click here) of the crowd control barrier products they manufacture and supply for use in shopping centres. This has been fully documented and independently audited by OH+S risk assessment specialists.
This assists ATDC in identifying safety hazards relating to the supply and use of such barriers. It also gives shopping centre owners peace of mind that the barriers they use comply with relevant OHS legislation, and they are utilising such barriers in accordance with safety standards (Click here for Safe Use Instructions).
ATDC have been very proactive in ensuring their products comply with necessary and relevant standards (in certain circumstances). Impact and Climbing Tests have also been performed and passed.

OVERHEAD SLIDING DOORS OFFER MAJOR SPACE SAVING ADVANTAGES
ATDC’s installation of its parallel overhead tracking sliding door system at the Glue Store at Melbourne’s Emporium, offers huge space saving storage advantages.
This installation involves securing a 27 metre wide store frontage (at a height of 4m) and configuring the overhead door system in a way where, once unlocked and opened, it folds back to a mere 2m stacking area.
In order to achieve this, ATDC used its multi-panel S07-2 side-by-side-stacking overhead door system on a parallel top track and achieved a user friendly seamless lock up for the retailer through the use of its multiple intermediate up/down locking mechanisms.
For further information on a recent side-by-side project where ATDC utilized a triple track split option for even greater space saving advantages please see.
Overhead Doors – A masterclass in storage space minimisation
ATDC’s Side-by-Side overhead retractable door system is a groundbreaking solution in minimising storage space while maintaining simplicity in design. This system employs a straightforward configuration of parallel overhead tracks, either double or triple, coupled with a series of seamless up/down locking mechanisms. This innovative setup reduces the side stacking storage space required for these doors to a mere 6% of the overall opening span being secured. This space-efficient design is ideal for applications where space is at a premium.
ATDC’s Side-by-Side Overhead Retractable Door System
Overhead Doors storage space minimization
Space Efficiency and Functionality
The key advantage of the Side-by-Side system is its ability to significantly reduce the footprint of the doors when retracted. This efficient design ensures that valuable floor space is not compromised, making it perfect for locations where space-saving is crucial. The seamless up/down locking mechanism enhances the door’s functionality, providing a smooth and secure operation.
Recent Installation at Oakleigh Gourmet Deli
A notable installation of ATDC’s Side-by-Side overhead retractable door system was recently completed at Oakleigh Gourmet Deli, located at Oakleigh Central in Melbourne. The project was specified by Docklands-based Elvin Tan Design Studio, showcasing the door system’s versatility and aesthetic appeal in a commercial setting. The sleek design and minimal storage requirement make it an excellent choice for modern retail and commercial environments.
Benefits of the Side-by-Side System
Maximises Storage Space: Reduces side stacking to just 6% of the opening span.
Simple Operation: Utilises parallel tracks and seamless locking mechanisms for easy operation.
Versatile Application: Ideal for various commercial settings, from delis to large retail spaces.
This innovative door system not only enhances security but also optimises space utilisation, making it a practical choice for businesses looking to maximise their operational efficiency without sacrificing style or functionality.
SPACE EFFICIENT SECURITY DOORS SPECIFIED AT RMIT UNIVERSITY PROJECT
Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC)’s premium grade security doors were recently installed for a prestigious project at Melbourne’s RMIT University, (project managed by Lendlease).
The S06 concertina security door was specified and installed to numerous locations on this project including over the canteen area where it spanned a very wide 13 metre opening.
What Were the Challenges of this Project?
There was extremely restricted headroom due to numerous overhead services and the available daylight opening height was quite limited at 1200mm. In this application the S06 concertina security door was ideal for a number of reasons.
This door requires no headroom at all as it runs off a heavy duty extruded slimline aluminium top track (suspended by an overhead support beam). The S06 retracts and folds sideways to occupy just a negligible amount of storage room at only 15% of the overall span being secured.
This door can also be set out as a parallel (side by side) top track configuration which requires only an 8% storage factor. This is known as the S07-2 model door.
No Bottom Tracks Needed
By using a series of intermediate up/down locking mechanisms the client was able to achieve seamless lock up without the need for any bottom track (removeable or otherwise) to the counter top area and without the need for any cumbersome and unwieldy removeable mullions.
In a different location on this same project ATDC’s S04-1 DD deluxe grade Double Diamond mesh portable security barrier was specified and installed to the university’s rubbish bin storage and bin wash area.
In this instance, this trackless product was ideal since the existence of numerous services prevented any other type of structural door system from being installed. The barrier is portable and free standing, and accordingly was an ideal solution for the client.
Why Double Diamond Mesh?
The double diamond mesh meant a very robust barrier was supplied that could withstand the considerable impact and force it is subjected to in this bin storage area.
This door also offers folding and retracting sideways on to itself resulting in only a minimal storage space requirement. And with both floor and wall mounted locking options, an optimal security solution was provided.
Further, the pitch between the metal cross linkages on this door is only 65mm. This prevents anybody being able to gain a foothold and so deters persons from climbing over this door – one of its complying characteristics with the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoarding.
For further information on ATDC’s double diamond barrier in other applications refer to this article.
ATDC Provides Security for Condell Park High School
ATDC’s heavy duty retractable security screens fold back sideways when unlocked and opened and are able to pivot 90 degrees away from the leaseline when in their stacked position.
The doors rotate in their stacked position at right angles to the opening on a carefully engineered self supporting steel frame which enables this pivoting action and thereby reducing the side storage stacking space to virtually nothing.
The pics show a recently completed installation of six (6) of these door systems for the NSW department of Education at Condell Park High School. Specified by ShakeUp Architecture and project managed by Sydney based, Neo-Way Pty Ltd.
