Effortless Operation and Sturdy Design

These folding doors are exceptionally lightweight and easy to operate. They utilise heavy-duty industrial top wheel hangers with metal bearings and are suspended from a robust extruded aluminium top track, which is affixed directly to a structural support beam above. This setup ensures smooth operation and long-lasting durability, even in high-traffic areas.

Customisable Options for Every Space

ATDC’s aluminium concertina closures are available in two panel options: wide body or slimline. The doors can be customised with either a clear polycarbonate infill for visibility or a perforated mesh infill for enhanced ventilation. Additionally, they are available in a natural anodised finish or a powder-coated colour to suit the aesthetic of any space.

A seamless lock-up is achieved with intermediate up/down locking mechanisms, ensuring security without the need for additional locking hardware. When not in use, these doors fold sideways out of sight, sliding back into a compact and tidy storage space.

SO8 Curved Trellis Doors Provide Closure for Difficult Commercial Building Designs

Heavy-duty commercial-grade extruded aluminium top track, heavy-duty industrial-grade top hangar assemblies and metal wheel bearings. This security door provides impressive styling and dependable and robust operation, no matter how large the opening it is securing.

Installed for SupaGlue’s store at Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne, the curved security door was supplied at a width of 30 metres and a maximum height of 4100mm without the need for any intermediate mullions, and so providing a high-class seamless appearance.

Similarly, a large SO8 curved trellis security door was installed at Bang + Olufsen’s Melbourne store in Richmond-this installation required no floor track, and so practical lock-up was achieved through intermediate key turn shootbolt locking mechanisms into stainless steel floor sockets. Further, the door was hung on a parallel top track arrangement to minimise the stacking area of the trellis door.

Melbourne’s prestigious Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School has also installed multiple substantial-sized curved trellis security doors securing the school’s library, school hall, classrooms, foyers and playground areas. This project formed part of the government’s recent BER rollout, and here ATDC’s design and installation teams worked closely with the specifying architects and project managers to achieve a staged lock-up of different areas of the school as the project was constructed over an 18-month period with phased handovers.

Designed to suit any interior environment, the trellis security door range is available in a high grade powder-coated finish from the Dulux Powder coated range.

Clear Security Roller Shutters for Woolworths Depot Yennora

Last Updated: April 2026

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has installed its market leading clear security roller shutters to the kitchen canteen servery at the Woolworths Distribution Depot, Yennora.

Ideal Security Roller Shutters for a Canteen Servery

clear security roller shutters
clear security roller shutters

The commercial grade shutters on this installation were in excess of 3 metres in width and they were installed under pelmet hoods to structural side support posts.

Supplied in clear anodised, these manually operated shutters are spring loaded with bottom rail key locking facilities for secure lockup.

Electric-operated options are also available with either a key switch or remote control facilities, and also battery backups in the event of power failures. Powder-coated finishes to the Dulux range are available.

The Project

The project managers for the installation were Waterloo-based Tradies Combined.

The key advantage of adding these shutters to the Woolworths depot server was the added layer of security they provide when the canteen is closed. The transparent panels act as a protective barrier, deterring potential intruders and safeguarding valuable equipment and supplies within the kitchen area.

This heightened security helps mitigate the risk of theft, vandalism, and unauthorised access during periods of closure, providing peace of mind for business owners and managers.

Hygiene and Energy Saving Benefits

Clear roller shutters contribute to the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene within the canteen servery during non-operating hours. By sealing off the kitchen area from external contaminants such as dust, insects, and other environmental pollutants, the shutters help preserve the integrity of the food preparation space.

Energy-saving benefits outside are strong, as the shutters provide insulation and thermal control for the kitchen area. By reducing the reliance on heating and cooling systems, businesses can lower their energy consumption and operational costs, contributing to sustainability efforts and environmental stewardship.

These shutters have the latest automation technology with electric operation through security key switch activation externally from the premises. They are also available in a manual option with key lockable security.

RS7 aluminium roller shutters have a clear anodised finish, although the full range of Dulux powder coating finishes is available to suit any colour-matching requirements.

Clearvision rollers have a transparent polycarbonate curtain infill, permitting maximum through vision.

The Project

The project manager for this installation was Younis Shopfitting.

Clear roller shutters present an ideal solution for shops situated within bustling train stations for several compelling reasons. Their transparent design allows for maximum visibility even when the shop is closed, ensuring that potential customers passing through the station can still view the merchandise on display. This inviting aspect increases the chances of spontaneous purchases.

While providing protection against theft and vandalism, the transparent panels allow for continuous surveillance both inside and outside the shop. Shop owners can rest assured knowing that their merchandise is secure, while commuters can feel confident shopping in a well-lit and transparent environment.

This combination of visibility, accessibility, and security makes clear roller shutters an ideal choice for shops located within railways, maximising both visibility and security while enhancing the shopping experience for commuters.

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has successfully installed their robust RS3 security roller doors for Jaycar’s new storefront in Toowoomba, Queensland, near Brisbane. These installations exemplify ATDC’s commitment to providing top-tier security solutions for retail premises across Australia.

Striking Aesthetic and Robust Design

The RS3 security roller doors are finished in a striking Deep Ocean Blue powdercoat, adding a visually appealing touch to Jaycar’s storefront. This bold colour choice not only enhances the store’s exterior but also aligns with Jaycar’s brand identity. The doors are designed to be robust and reliable, ensuring that they provide maximum security for the premises.

Nationwide Installations

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has installed these security roller doors at multiple Jaycar locations across Australia, including Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. This nationwide presence demonstrates the versatility and popularity of the RS3 roller doors in meeting the security needs of various retail environments.

Enhanced Security Features

These security roller doors are electronically operated with a key switch mechanism for added security. This feature ensures that only authorised personnel can operate the doors, providing an additional layer of protection for the store. The standout feature of the RS3 doors is their double-walled extruded aluminium blade, which offers extra strength and durability, making them a formidable barrier against potential break-ins.

Sleek and Functional Design

One of the key advantages of the RS3 security roller doors is their ability to fold up into a slimline pelmet box. This design ensures that the doors are almost invisible during trading hours, maintaining the store’s aesthetic appeal while providing robust security when needed. This sleek design is particularly beneficial for retail environments, where both appearance and security are paramount.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of roller shutter is suitable for national retail rollouts?

Can heavy duty roller shutters match a store’s brand finish?

Yes, roller shutters can be powdercoated to finishes from the Dulux Duralloy powdercoat range, which allows them to blend with existing shopfront colours and branding.

Do heavy duty roller shutters take up much space when open?

No, they can roll up into a slimline overhead box and stay out of the way when not in use, which helps preserve shopfront visibility and access during trading hours.

Are heavy duty roller shutters operated manually or electronically?

Our RS3 heavy duty roller shutters can be supplied with electronic operation and key switch control, and manual operation is also available on The Australian Trellis Door Co roller shutter range.

Why are heavy-duty roller shutters a good fit for retail storefronts?

They provide strong after-hours protection while still being easy for staff to open and close, so they suit busy retail environments that need both security and convenience.

Commercial Folding Closures now with Emergency Egress Facility

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) recently installed its premium grade 300mm panel folding closure door to secure the storefront of Glue Store at Charlestown. The commercial folding closure was fitted with an emergency egress facility.

Who are Glue Store?

Glue Store is a national Australian retailer selling well known clothing, footwear and accessories from international and local brands such as Stussy, Nike, Adidas, Tommy Hilfiger, Champion and many more.

What did we use for this project?

Powdercoated black and installed with a heavy duty extruded top track attached directly to structural supports above, the door included an emergency breakout door for egress compliance with the BCA.

This was required as the closure had been installed in an entry designated for emergency exit. The breakout door operates with a lever handle from the inside of the premises which allows for quick keyless egress. The breakout door hinges outwards on activation of the lever handle.

Stackable Commercial Doors with Electromagnetic Locking for Emergency Egress

Emergency Options to Increase Security Door Safety by ATDC

The Australian Trellis Door Co (ATDC) has introduced an electromagnetic locking facility for its folding commercial doors for emergency egress in the event of fire.

What is an Electromagnetic Lock?
In this application the electromagnetic lock will be wired to the fire alarm to the premises. A fire event will then activate the fire alarm which automatically cuts the power supply to the electromagnetic lock thereby automatically unlocking and opening the door.

Is There Use for Further Security Access?

In a different application the same locking mechanism can also be used as an electronic lock for greater security access control in high security applications such as for banks or jewellery stores. Access can then be controlled for example by restricted swipe cards or even digital keypads.

Working with Control Specialists

Whilst ATDC will, where required, build these special locking mechanisms into their doors the actual wiring and access control is always arranged by other access control specialists. We can help connect you with trusted specialists who can create the best system for you.

Curved Security Door for Deakin University

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) recently participated in the upgrade project to the existing library at Deakin University (Burwood Campus) where it installed its curved security door to the after-hour canteen.

ATDC Trusted by Major Universities for Security Doors

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) recently supplied its S08 curved security door for a unique project managed by Harris HMC, based in North Melbourne. Specified by Ian McEwan Designs of Surrey Hills, Victoria, this project showcased ATDC’s ability to deliver customised security solutions for commercial spaces.

Custom Design and Features

The S08 curved security door for this project measured approximately 9 metres wide and 3200mm high, finished in an elegant satin black powdercoat. A key feature of the installation was the door’s ability to traverse a 90-degree turn, which was achieved through a 600mm curved radius. This design required careful planning and precision engineering, with the entire span supported from above by a structural support beam that followed the contours of the opening.

Innovative Locking Mechanism

One of the standout features of this S08 security door installation was the absence of a floor track. Without floor tracking, lock-up security was maintained through a series of multiple intermediate up/down locking mechanisms. This provided a seamless, effective lock-up solution while maintaining the door’s aesthetic appeal and smooth operation.

Perfect Blend of Form and Function

This project highlights ATDC’s commitment to creating tailored security solutions that combine design elegance with high security. The S08 curved security door’s sleek finish, combined with its robust security features, made it the perfect choice for this commercial project. ATDC’s innovative designs continue to set the benchmark for high-end security systems in Australia, providing flexibility and superior performance.
