Reception Security Doors Skyring Terrace’s Haven Kiosk at Newstead in QLD
The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) ‘s versatile security doors are an ideal method of securing the often difficult contours of angled bench tops, counter tops, serveries and reception areas.
ATDC recently installed its curved steel security door to suit the hexagonal shaped bar counter at the Skyring Terrace’s Haven Kiosk at Newstead in QLD.
Architecturally specified by TwoHill & James of Fortitude Valley, QLD, this unique folding security door was configured in a curved format with four off 600mm corner radius curves.
The door was designed without the use of any floor track and is instead secured by a series of intermediate up/down locks and commercial grade patio bolts to facilitate seamless lock up without the need for any cumbersome removable mullions. A professional high gloss pearl white powder coat finish was applied to the door for this project.
Project managers for the job were Lamberts of Coopers Plains.

Perforated Folding Closures Southbank University
Collaboration with Architects and Project Managers
The project was specified by Lyons Architects, a renowned architectural firm based in Bourke Street, Melbourne. The project managers overseeing the installation were the APM Group, headquartered in Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
Unique Features of the Folding Closures
The folding closures installed at Melbourne University’s Southbank Library incorporate several unique features that set them apart from traditional security doors. One of the most significant elements is the perforated mesh infills. These mesh panels were chosen specifically to provide the required ventilation and airflow within the building, addressing the needs of the architects while maintaining a secure environment.
In addition to the perforated mesh, the doors feature two 45-degree bends. These bends were necessary to navigate the curved apertures of the library, ensuring a perfect fit while maintaining the integrity of the design.
Seamless Locking Mechanism
Another innovative aspect of the perforated folding closures is their advanced locking system. The doors are equipped with sequential and intermediate up/down locks, allowing for a seamless lock-up effect. This system eliminates the need for a floor track, which can often be cumbersome and prone to wear over time. The locking mechanism enhances the overall functionality and security of the doors while preserving the aesthetic integrity of the library’s design.

High Speed Doors for Cleanrooms
Evolving Requirements for Cleanroom Doors
Over the last decade, increased regulation and technological advancements have transformed the design and functionality of doors used in cleanrooms. These environments require precise air quality control and measures to minimise cross-contamination risks, making specialised door solutions essential.
The Role of Cleanrooms
Cleanrooms play a critical role in reducing cross-contamination risks, whether they come from dust, germs, vapours, or other contaminants. By maintaining air pressure differentials between rooms, cleanrooms ensure that air flows from the cleaner side of an opening to the less-clean side, effectively limiting the spread of contaminants.
High-Speed Doors for Cleanroom Efficiency
Rapid roll high-speed doors are an integral component of cleanroom operations, particularly in pharmaceutical manufacturing. These doors:
Prevent cross-contamination by maintaining a controlled environment.
Support air pressure and circulation requirements to optimise cleanroom functionality.
Their ability to open and close quickly ensures minimal disruption to the controlled environment, which is critical in maintaining cleanroom integrity.
Key Features of ATDC’s High-Speed Doors
When selecting doors for cleanroom applications, durability and ease of cleaning are key considerations. ATDC’s high-speed doors are specifically engineered to meet these needs:
They are highly durable and can withstand repeated cleaning with chemical agents.

Who are H&M?
H+M is one of the world’s foremost fashion groups and employs more than 161,000 staff in more than 4400 stores in 65 countries.
The project manager for this job was Streetbuild Constructions.
What Security Did ATDC Provide for H&M Rundle Mall?
ATDC installed its stylish retractable security shutters (in a night sky powdercoated finish) across three adjacent shopfront windows. By configuring these doors on a side-by-side parallel set of top tracks, ATDC were able to install these doors in such a way that they all overlapped each other and folded back to a common storage bay.
Ease of Use and Space Saving
In this way, it significantly reduces the required overall stacking requirements for these shutters. This was all achievable through the use of multiple up/down locking mechanisms, which created a seamless lock up situation.

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) offers a wide range of rapid roll high speed doors suitable for most applications, including cold storage environments. Cold storage environments are prevalent in food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, certain logistics facilities, and more.
High Speed Doors the Ideal Security Solution for Cold Storage
What Do Cold Storage Doors Require?
Cold storage facilities require heat to be kept out and cold air to be contained inside the room. Historically, heavy, insulated solid doors have been used to try to achieve this. These doors generally open to the side to allow access in and out of the storage room.
Why are Traditional Cold Storage Doors Ineffective?
These doors are heavy and slow to move. Their slowness of operation inevitably allows cold air to escape making temperature control a challenge and requiring larger energy loads to maintain the cold storage environment. This comes at a financial cost to the operator of the cold storage facility.
Are Rapid Roll Doors the Solution?
The use of rapid roll high speed doors are becoming increasingly popular in such environments. They are fast moving, which assists in maintaining temperature control by preventing cold air from escaping during the operation of the door.
Suitable rapid roll high speed doors have considerable insulation and sealing characteristics further aiding temperature control. Also, high speed doors can offer many safety features such as motion sensors to avoid hitting obstacles in their path, e.g. people or forklifts.
The Many and Varied Applications of High Speed Doors
The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) offers a wide range of rapid roll high speed doors suitable for use in food processing, healthcare, leisure, pharmaceutical and research environments.
High standards of cleanliness are required in food manufacturing. High speed doors are suitable for all applications where food safety and cleanliness are crucial.
Strict legislation is enforced on medical facilities and hospitals with regards to frequent usage of doors. Rapid roll high speed doors assist in stopping the spreading of infections in hospitals, operating theatres, intensive care units, patient wards and X-ray rooms.
Doors within leisure centres, swimming pools and sports facilities need to cope with frequent usage while being hygienic at the same time. High speed doors are ideal for such use in leisure facilities as they are able to cope with high levels of traffic, while at the same time being hygienic, smooth and non-absorbent. They are resistant to heavy cleaning agents and are rust resistant in such high moisture environments.
Within pharmaceutical applications, research laboratories and cleanrooms, a high level of clean-ability and hygiene is required. High speed doors do not harbour bacteria, due to the smooth, seamless surfaces and non-porous qualities. They play a role in maintaining correct room pressures and air circulation rates.
