ATDC has launched a new version of its concertina folding door system, which is a see through folding door, now available to the Australian commercial, retail and hospitality sectors.
A Brand New ATDC Offering!
Ideal for Commercial Security
Unlike the conventional concertina doors that are currently available with solid curtain infills, this new bar grille design version is a refreshing departure from the norm.
It has an open grille style of vertical 12 mm round aluminium rods, which are reinforced for extra strength with an internal full height threaded steel rod. Natural benefits of this door include the ventilation, light and through vision that it offers.
Recent Project
A recent installation at Cignall Tobacco at Macquarie Park near Sydney highlights these benefits. In this project managed by Younis Shopfitting, this 200mm wide panel concertina door is powder-coated black and offers seamless up/down locking.
This is a great example of how these doors can be functional while looking amazing for storefronts. They drive away potential crime without minimising the welcoming feeling for customers. Customers can see into the store at all times, and the doors don’t get in the way during open hours.

PERFORATED FOLDING DOORS FOR SECURITY FOR AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
Folding Doors for Security
Hancock Library in Canberra
The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently installed folding doors for security at The Australian National University’s Hancock Library in Canberra.
Unique Aspects
Specified by The Mill Design Company, the project involved the installation of ATDC’s wide panel 300mm folding door in a black powder-coated finish. Unique to this project was the special radius curved aperture as well as the specification requiring the top half of the door to have a perforated mesh infill for ventilation, whilst the bottom half had a polycarbonate infill.
Sloping Floors
Like so many of ATDC’s projects, the company had to deal with the challenge of sloping floors. Here again, the adjustability in the throw of ATDC’s down locking mechanisms assisted in achieving seamless lock up for the customer. See further technical information on these doors.
Project Managers
Project managers for the job were Boss Projects Group out of Kingston in the ACT.

The Australian Trellis Door Company’s (ATDC) S06 sliding security gates have been installed at Warrnambool City Council’s Learning and Library Hub, located within their Civic Centre building. Warrnambool, a picturesque regional city, is approximately a three-hour drive from Melbourne.
These lockable sliding security gates were specified by Kosloff Architecture to meet the dual needs of security and aesthetic appeal. The gates are designed to be virtually invisible when unlocked and open, sliding seamlessly back on a heavy-duty extruded aluminium top track. This feature ensures the space remains welcoming and uncluttered during operational hours. However, when locked and deployed, the S06 gates form a secure and effective barrier, safeguarding the facility’s valuable assets and providing peace of mind.
Professional Installation and Project Management
The project managers for this installation were Nicholson Constructions, a reputable company based in Wendouree. The gates were finished in a sleek satin black powder-coated design, complementing the modern architectural style of the Learning and Library Hub while maintaining a professional appearance.

Australian Trellis Door Co’s RS7 clear roller shutters can be an effective vermin resistant security screen in certain circumstances.

Ideal Security That Doubles as a Pest Repeller
These transparent security shutters have an optional slimline overhead pelmet box that encases the shutter curtain in the open position. The installation of a felt buffer (also commonly known as schlegel) in the side guides and also a bottom rubber strip on the bottom rail are additional methods of protection against vermin.
Why Do Food Spaces Need Vermin Protection?
Vermin like mice and rats can be a serious problem when it comes to commercial buildings that offer hospitality. They can introduce a range of bacteria and diseases that can negatively impact customers, becoming a huge issue for the owners. This can end up costing the business lots of money or causing them to go out of business if their health and safety aren’t up to code.

Installation of Double Diamond Doors at Woolworths Town Hall
crowd control barrier
ATDC is proud to announce the installation of its state-of-the-art Double Diamond doors at Woolworths Town Hall near Sydney. This installation marks another successful deployment of our premium crowd control barriers, enhancing the security and operational efficiency of a major retail space.
Enhanced Security with Double Diamond Doors
The Double Diamond doors are specifically designed to provide superior security. These barriers are strategically installed to screen off the escalators, effectively preventing public access to the Big W section of the business, which is located on the top floor of the building.
By restricting access after hours, these barriers play a crucial role in safeguarding the premises and reducing the risk of unauthorised entry.
Chosen for Superior Climb-Resistant Features
The Big W construction team selected the Double Diamond product for its unique design features. One of the standout features of the Double Diamond doors is their climb-resistant design.
The intricate double diamond mesh pattern makes it exceptionally difficult to gain a foothold, thus preventing individuals from climbing over the door. This added layer of security is particularly beneficial in high-traffic retail environments where maintaining a secure perimeter is essential.
Tailored Solutions for Retail Environments
ATDC’s Double Diamond doors are tailored to meet the specific needs of retail environments. Their robust construction and advanced security features make them an ideal choice for businesses looking to enhance their crowd control measures.
By providing a reliable and effective barrier solution, ATDC helps businesses like Woolworths and Big W maintain a safe and secure environment for their customers and employees.

ATDC has installed its lockable, portable, steel fast food kiosk crowd control barriers to secure the Hungry Jacks food outlet at the BP service station at East Keilor in Melbourne.
This Project
The project manager for the installation was Torquay-based MAS Building & Construction.
At ATDC we work alongside other reputable businesses to create overall commercial installations that work seamlessly for worldwide companies.
For the Hungry Jacks project, we needed to use a security expandable barrier system that would be easy to use for employees, block the restaurant while still allowing customers to see inside, and have easy storage.
Note how the black steel blends seamlessly into the restaurant counter, not being an eyesore, but also being a clear indicator of security that wards off potential crime.
Since this restaurant is in a busy BP station in Melbourne, it’s important to consider how the station will likely be open 24/7, while Hungry Jacks is not.
This means that the space is accessible even when closed, which is why it’s vital to keep security in front of the counter.
At restaurants such as Hungry Jacks, the employees are not security experts – as is the case in most commercial applications of our barriers.
This means the trackless, relocatable and collapsible aspects of the barriers are vital to ensure the employees can set up and take down the security system easily when opening and closing the restaurant.
In a fast-food space, where working quickly is key, time can’t be wasted in struggling to use security systems – or worse, barriers being set up incorrectly because they’re too hard for the employees to use.
Specs
These expandable barriers are available at a height of 2m or 2.5m and are OH+S tested for safe operation. They are completely trackless, relocatable and collapsible and are available for purchase or for hire on a short term or long term basis.
