On external installations these hoods not only protect the shutters from the effects of weathering but they also offer a greater degree of security by preventing the drum roll from being tampered with. The hood,which is fabricated from aluminium,effectively seals off the shutter and thereby also making it more resistant to vermin entering the premises through the drum roll.
