One of the standout features of the RS3 security shutter is its discreet design during trading hours. The shutter folds up into a very compact, slimline pelmet box, making it virtually invisible. This design ensures that the security system does not detract from the store’s aesthetic appeal while providing robust protection when needed.

Mixed Operation Modes

The security shutters at the Glenorie store are a combination of electric and manual roller shutters. Versatile Security Doors For Counters, Serveries and Reception Desks

Reception Security Doors Skyring Terrace’s Haven Kiosk at Newstead in QLD

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) ‘s versatile security doors are an ideal method of securing the often difficult contours of angled bench tops, counter tops, serveries and reception areas.

ATDC recently installed its curved steel security door to suit the hexagonal shaped bar counter at the Skyring Terrace’s Haven Kiosk at Newstead in QLD.

Architecturally specified by TwoHill & James of Fortitude Valley, QLD, this unique  folding security door was configured in a curved format with four off 600mm corner radius curves.

The door was designed without the use of any floor track and is instead secured by a series of intermediate up/down locks and commercial grade patio bolts to facilitate seamless lock up without the need for any cumbersome removable mullions. A professional high gloss pearl white powder coat finish was applied to the door for this project.

Project managers for the job were Lamberts of Coopers Plains.

The Many and Varied Applications of High Speed Doors

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) offers a wide range of rapid roll high speed doors suitable for use in food processing, healthcare, leisure, pharmaceutical and research environments.

High standards of cleanliness are required in food manufacturing.  High speed doors are suitable for all applications where food safety and cleanliness are crucial.

Strict legislation is enforced on medical facilities and hospitals with regards to frequent usage of doors.  Rapid roll high speed doors assist in stopping the spreading of infections in hospitals, operating theatres, intensive care units, patient wards and X-ray rooms.

Doors within leisure centres, swimming pools and sports facilities need to cope with frequent usage while being hygienic at the same time.  High speed doors are ideal for such use in leisure facilities as they are able to cope with high levels of traffic, while at the same time being hygienic, smooth and non-absorbent.  They are resistant to heavy cleaning agents and are rust resistant in such high moisture environments.

Within pharmaceutical applications, research laboratories and cleanrooms, a high level of clean-ability and hygiene is required.  High speed doors do not harbour bacteria, due to the smooth, seamless surfaces and non-porous qualities.  They play a role in maintaining correct room pressures and air circulation rates.

RADIO RENTALS PREFER SECURE SHOPFRONT SECURITY DOORS

Radio Rentals’ quality range of high-value products are a natural target for persons wishing to profit through theft by break and entering through the various storefront entries.

The Group has for many years turned to the high level of security provided by The Australian Trellis Door Company’s (ATDC) security doors to protect their stores and their merchandise. The above photograph shows a recent typical installation at the Group’s Penrith Store in Sydney’s outer western suburbs.

Protecting High-Value Products with ATDC

The History of Radio Rentals

Radio Rentals was formed in 1930 in Brighton, Sussex, UK, with a turnover in the first year of £780. It later moved into televisions and ultimately video recorders. Growth of a public TV service after the war encouraged more people to want TV sets, but they were expensive, leaving an opportunity for Radio Rentals to offer them out as an affordable monthly rental. Video recorders and a range of white goods came next as the business took off.

The Radio Rentals Story in Australia

The Radio Rentals story in Australia began with a single shopfront in Market Street, Sydney, in 1937. Today, it is Australia’s leading household appliance, technology, and furniture rental company, with over 70 stores in Australia and nearly 30 stores in New Zealand and more than 500 employees. The parent company is Thorn Group Limited.

The S06 Security Door: A Flagship Solution

ATDC’s flagship shopfront door is their model S06 security door, which is compliant with the Australian Standards for Sliding Security Doors, having successfully passed the stringent testing requirements for Dynamic Impact, Anti-Jimmy, and Pull Testing.

Why Leading Retailers Choose ATDC

Many of Australia’s leading retailers are installing ATDC’s shopfront security doors to protect their stores against break and enter as it is a relatively inexpensive yet effective deterrent and a favourite choice for both loss prevention managers and insurers alike.

A Unique Approach to Retail Security

ATDC is a well-renowned security-licensed company with a solid trading record dating back to 1984. The company installs shopfront security doors that enhance the customer-friendly retail experience without presenting a harsh, jail-like image.

ATDC’s shopfront security doors are unique in that they concertina and slide back neatly out of the way during retail trading hours to be almost invisible. However, when the store is closed for trade at night, they provide a formidable deterrent while at the same time permitting retailers to maximise the visibility of their products on display.

Read more about some of the blue-chip companies installing these security screens.

Additional Features and Benefits

ATDC’s shopfront security doors have other unique features that make them appealing to both retailers and other commercial customers. These include their ability to offer special emergency egress where required under the BCA—this includes the ability to implement keyless locking on exit from the premises while still retaining the security provided by these doors.

Further advantages include ATDC’s ability to significantly reduce side stacking by implementing innovative storage minimisation techniques. This is achieved by altering the configurations in which their shopfront security doors are installed. Read about our S07 scissor doors.

Architectural Appeal and Availability

In addition, these doors, with their sharp jagged lines and angled metal parts, have an eye-catching, edgy look and feel to them. This results in many customers selecting them when wishing to make a statement or merely keeping up with the latest architectural trends. Certainly, a standout and something different from the often staid and more common appearance of traditional roller shutters and folding doors that have graced retail store design in this country for decades.

National and International Reach

ATDC’s shopfront security doors are currently sold in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Canberra, as well as in all regional towns across the country, including Newcastle, Geelong, Wollongong, Townsville, Darwin, Hobart, Sunshine, and Gold Coast regions. They are also exported to Southeast Asia, the Asia Pacific, Pacific Islands, New Zealand, and the UAE.

The strongest Security Roller Shutters specified for Centenary Park Pavilion

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has successfully installed its double-walled extruded aluminium security roller shutters at Centenary Park Pavilion, a Glen Eira City Council managed property in Melbourne’s Bentleigh East.

Successful Installation at Centenary Park Pavilion

Project Specifications

ATDC’s security roller shutters were specified by Mantric Architecture and were installed over both doorways and windows to the Pavilion as both a security device and as a means to protect the glass windows from the possibility of being damaged through impact from balls from the sports ground.

Compliance Requirements

Mantric Architecture had certain complying requirements before specifying ATDC’s RS3 shutters. The RS3 was capable of meeting all Mantric’s requirements as listed below:

  1. They had to provide maximum strength and durability; the shutters are a double wall extrusion with a 44mm blade and heavy-duty extruded side rails to contain and secure the shutters.
  2. The security roller shutters had to have the slimmest possible overhead pelmet boxes.
  3. Shutters installed on corners were to have removable corner mullions.
  4. They had to be electronically operated with group controls to permit multiple shutters to operate sequentially in banks or individually.
  5. For access control purposes, these shutters had to have the ability to interface with Council’s internal computer security system, enabling their connection to the system management software used by Council.
  6. The shutters needed to be powder-coated to match the colour scheme of the aluminium window frames at the Pavilion. (For further information on the RS3’s technical features, see ATDC’s website at RS3 Technical Features)

Wide Range of Applications

ATDC security roller shutters have been widely specified on Council Pavilions across Victoria for the very reasons listed above. They are also suitable for securing commercial and industrial applications, retail shopfronts and shopping centres, banks, medical centres, reception areas, canteens, bar counters, commercial and government buildings. They are also ideal for securing residential properties, particularly for windows, sliding doors, French doors, and patio doors.

National and International Availability

ATDC’s shutters are now sold in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, and Brisbane, as well as in all regional towns across Australia including Newcastle, Geelong, Townsville, Darwin, Hobart, Sunshine Coast, and Gold Coast regions. They are also exported throughout Southeast Asia, the Asia Pacific region, the Pacific Islands, and the UAE. (For more information, visit ATDC Exports)

EXTENDABLE GATES FOR WESTFIELD FOUNTAIN GATE

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) recently installed multiple extendable gates throughout Westfield Fountain Gate, Australia’s second-largest shopping centre, located in Narre Warren in Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs.

ATDC’s Security Installation at Westfield Fountain Gate

Project Management and Purpose of Installation

The project was managed by Daicor Commercial Property Services Pty Ltd, based in Malvern, Victoria. These gates were installed as access control devices and effective loss prevention tools across various areas, including multiple tenancies, the food court, and entry and exit points for the centre’s travelators.

Growing Demand Across Major Shopping Centres

This installation follows a trend across many Westfield sites in Australia and among other leading shopping centre groups, including those managed or owned by LendLease, Stocklands, AMP, Colonial First State, QIC, and Vicinity Centres. ATDC’s extendable gates are increasingly sought after for their reliability and quality.

Reasons for ATDC’s Premier Position in Extendable Gates

ATDC has become Australia’s premier supplier of high-grade extendable gates for several important reasons:

1 Safety and Compliance
Many ATDC gates are OH+S tested to ensure safe operation and public safety. They come with a documented WHS Risk Assessment.

2 Australian Standards Testing
The gates comply with Australian Standards for Dynamic Impact, Simulated Climbing, and Foothold Aperture, which is critical for government applications. Read more.

3 Emergency Egress Compliance
Where required, the gates comply with the Building Code of Australia’s emergency egress provisions for keyless exit.

4 Durability and Quality Components
ATDC uses only high-quality components. Non-pivoting rivets promote longevity, and the heavy-duty, non-marking thermoplastic compound wheels ensure durability. All products carry a 12-month warranty against defective parts and materials.

National and International Availability

ATDC’s extendable gates are available in major Australian cities, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Canberra, as well as in regional towns like Newcastle, Geelong, Darwin, Townsville, Hobart, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast. DRUMMOND GOLF EXPAND BUSINESS WITH INNOVATIVE EXTENDABLE BARRIERS

Drummond Golf is the largest golf retailer in Australia with over 50 owner-operated stores across the country having started out as a small retail shop in 1974 in Bendigo, Victoria.

The Client: Drummond Golf

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has been installing its extendable barriers at various Drummond Golf stores across Australia, particularly in locations that house Drummond’s Big Swing Golf simulators. These simulators are a great add-on to Drummond Golf’s business as it allows the company to expand beyond the boundaries of strictly retail trade and permits their customers to hold events, including both staff and social functions all based around simulating the great social game of golf, carried out in airconditioned and licensed premises. Drummond are also able to conduct in-house golf coaching clinics at these premises and are able to conduct these out of hours.

The Barriers

By installing ATDC’s flexible, extendable barriers, Drummond can protect its stock when the retail side of its business is closed whilst their Golf simulator and event business is open and functioning out of hours. An excellent loss prevention tool.

Strategic Placement

EXTENDABLE SAFETY BARRIERS AT GREEN SQUARE LIBRARY ARE BCA EGRESS COMPLIANT

The City of Sydney is working with leading private developers to create a new and sustainable £13 billion, 14-hectare urban renewal project, Green Square, with world-class community facilities and extensive infrastructure. ATDC provided extendable safety barriers to the new library.

ATDC Trusted by the City of Sydney to Provide Safety Barriers to Green Square

It is projected that by 2030 Green Square will house 61,000 people and 22,000 new workers, only 3.5 km from the CBD in Sydney’s Inner South and 4 km from the International Airport at Mascot.

Green Square Library Benefits from ATDC Security

A small part of this investment includes construction of a new community library, and The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently installed one of its unique extendable safety barriers at the library entry.

Specified by Sydney architect, Stewart Hollenstein, ATDC worked closely with project managers John Holland in delivering a custom-made lock-up door solution to this prestigious project. ATDC’s S04-1 DD Double Diamond mesh extendable safety barrier was the door of choice for the project architect since it provided a freestanding yet economic security solution and was able to be installed in the absence of any available support structure.

Compliant with Rigorous Standards Worldwide

In addition, ATDC’s unique barriers not only comply with the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoardings but are also compliant with the emergency egress requirements of the BCA, allowing keyless egress in the event of an emergency. Being installed at the entry to the public library, it was essential that this emergency egress facility was incorporated into the design of the barrier system. ATDC installed a similar system for the State Transit Authority at Barangaroo at the entry to the new ferry terminal.

Library Project Specifications

The crowd control barrier system was installed at the foot of the stairs to the library entry and was formatted in a U-shaped configuration to completely surround the balustrading on the stairs. (See photograph of the installation above).

Supplied at a standard height of 2020 mm, the mobile and portable extendable safety barrier was installed on a series of heavy-duty non-marking thermoplastic castors and was finished in a satin black powder coat. Intermediate shoot bolts, which engage with the finished floor, were used to stabilise the barrier system.

SPACE EFFICIENT SECURITY DOORS SPECIFIED AT RMIT UNIVERSITY PROJECT

Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC)’s premium grade security doors were recently installed at a prestigious project at Melbourne’s RMIT University,(project managed by Lendlease).

The  designers for the project,Lyons Architects, specified both ATDC’s S06 heavy duty concertina security door as well as ATDC’s  S04-1 DD Double Diamond Mesh portable security barrier to different parts of the same project.

The S06 concertina security door was specified and installed to numerous locations on this project including over the canteen area  where it spanned a very wide 13 metre opening.Further, there was extremely restricted headroom due to numerous overhead services and the available daylight opening height was  quite limited at  1200mm  .In this application the S06 concertina security door was ideal for a number of reasons. This door requires no headroom at all as it runs off a heavy duty extruded slimline aluminium top track (suspended by an overhead support beam). The S06  retracts and folds sideways to occupy just  a negligible amount of storage room at only 15% of the overall span being secured.(In fact this door can also be set out as a parallel (side by side) top track configuration which requires only an 8% storage factor-this is known as the S07-2 model door refer to www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/security-screens-and-screen-doors/scissor-doors-s07-2) ).Moreover, by using a series of intermediate up/down locking mechanisms the client was able to achieve seamless lock up without the need for any bottom  track (removeable or otherwise) to the counter top area and without the need for any cumbersome and unwieldy removeable mullions. For further information on ATDC’s security rated folding security door visit ATDC’s website on www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/security-screens-and-screen-doors/s06-concertina-security-shutters

In a different location on this same project ATDC’s S04-1 DD deluxe grade Double Diamond mesh portable security barrier was specified and installed to the university’s rubbish bin storage and bin wash area.In this  instance this trackless  product was ideal since the existence of numerous services prevented any other type of structural door system from being installed. The barrier is portable and free standing and accordingly was an ideal solution for the client. The double diamond mesh meant a very robust  barrier was supplied that could withstand the considerable impact and force it is subjected to in this bin storage area. Also folding and retracting sideways on to itself resulting in only  a minimal storage space requirement. And with both floor and wall mounted locking options an optimal security solution was provided.Further the pitch between the metal cross linkages on this door is only 65mm.This prevents anybody being able to gain a foothold and so deters persons from climbing  over this door –one of its complying characteristics with the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoarding. For further information on ATDC’s double diamond barrier in other applications refer to an article at www.trellisdoors.com.au/atdc-installs-safety-barriers-at-new-ferry-terminal-in-sydney
