PORTABLE EXPANDING BARRICADES FOR WOOLWORTHS METRO STORES

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently installed its portable expanding barricades to the Woolworths metro store at Armadale, an inner city suburb of Melbourne.(image attached)

This installation was a  prototype application to secure Woolworths’  liquor aisles with a portable expanding barricade that would deter  persons from being able to reach the bottles of alcohol through the barricade or alternatively if they were indeed able to reach through the barrier then to prevent them being able to pass bottles of alcohol through it.The results were successful and the barricade is serving its purpose as a powerful loss prevention tool reducing both theft and shrinkage. This is addition to its dual purpose function of ensuring that  the licensee is compliant with the prevailing state liquor licensing legislation.

ATDC ‘s S04-1 DD (Double Diamond) mesh portable expanding barricade was the product of choice for this interesting  Armadale application with its tightly interwoven mesh creating a narrow 65mm pitch between the metal cross linkages making it extremely  difficult to reach through the barrier. The black powdercoated barrier at Armadale is 2020mm high and has a seamless  floor mounted locking arrangement to secure the installation ie rather than attaching and locking  the barrier to the aisle structure itself-the floor mounted locking mechanism has  a surface mounted laser cut stainless steel floor plate to which the barrier engages at each end and locks.During trading hours the trackless, portable barricade is wheeled away on heavy duty non marking rubber bottom castors to back of house for storage completely out of sight. For further information on the double diamond mesh barricade visit www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/barriers-and-cafe-barriers/safety-barriers-s04-1dd

The double diamond mesh portable expanding barricade has been tested for safety under the latest OH+S legislation and it has also been tested by an independent NATA testing authority for compliance with numerous provisions of the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoardings AS 4687-2007,namely for dynamic impact, simulated climbing and foothold aperture tests, having passed these tests successfully. The successful testing also confirms this steel fabricated product’s characteristics as being rigid, formidable and strong yet extremely easy to operate.

ATDC is already installing these  barricades  to other members of the Woolworths organization including both BWS and Dan Murphy’s liquor stores.See article at www.trellisdoors.com.au/bws-select-quality-portable-fencing

ATDC’s double diamond mesh barriers have the added advantage of being compliant under certain circumstances with the emergency exit provisions of the BCA-See article at www.trellisdoors.com.au/our-retractable-security-doors-comply-with-deemed-to-satisfy-provisions-of-the-bca

ATDC’s portable expanding barricades are now sold in Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane,Perth,Adelaide and Canberra as well as in all regional centres across the country including Darwin,Townsville,Sunshine Coast,Gold Coast,Newcastle,Wollongong and Geelong. These barricades are now also being successfully exported to South East Asia,The Asia Pacific region,The Pacific Islands and the UAE.See www.trellisdoors.com.au/export/singapore

SPECTACULAR COMMERCIAL SECURITY SCREENS FOR KOORINGAL GOLF CLUB

The well reputed Kooringal Golf at Altona in Melbourne recently briefed The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) to design and install a  20 metre wide curved commercial security screen to divide  a large function room at the golf club.

ATDC’s S08 curved commercial security screen was installed with architecturally designed special radius curves to suit this application.Multiple keyed alike up/down keyturn locking mechanisms were fitted which lock a bolt up into the top track and down into the finished floor to achieve seamless lock up and  keyed alike  to the club’s master key system. And the absence of any floor tracking at all removed the potential risks of any trip hazards. For a recent article on ATDC’s curved door please refer to ATDC’s website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/atdc-completes-expanding-door-installation-for-healthcare-facility-in-sydney

The elegantly configured lines of this unique curved commercial security screen are ideal to secure curved radius applications including curved shopfronts and office showrooms, curved restaurants ,museums and library facades –maximum height achievable is 4200mm from ceiling to finished floor.Note that the stock standard radius curve accommodates  a 90 degree angle through a 600mm radius turn. And figure 8 /S-bends are readily achievable where required.Parallel top tracking configurations are also possible  for minimizing storage size compaction rendering this the most space efficient commercial security screen currently available on the Australian Market. For further information on ATDC’s S07-2 side-by-side stacking security screens visit their website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/security-screens-and-screen-doors/scissor-doors-s07-2

Whilst the finish of the security screen at Kooringal is in a professional high gloss pearl white powdercoat,ATDC’s alternate standard colour is  black satin.Note however that  the doors can be colour matched to any fitout environment  by virtue of the fact that they can be matched to any finish  in  the Australian Dulux powdercoat range .

This premium grade commercial security screen is now available for sale in Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane,Adelaide,Perth and Canberra as well as all regional towns across the country such as Darwin,Hobart,Townsville,Newcastle,Geelong and it is currently being exported to South East Asia,The Asia Pacific region,Pacific Islands and the UAE.For further information on ATDC’s growing export business see ATDC’s website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/export/singapore

BONDED WAREHOUSING DEMANDS EXPANDABLE FENCING

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC)  has seen a sharp rise in demand for its cutting edge expandable fencing to secure bonded warehouse facilities in Australia.

A bonded warehouse (also known as a customs warehouse) is typically a secured warehouse facility that is closely supervised by Australian customs authorities, where dutiable imported goods are stored pending their re-export,release or assessment and payment of duties and taxes. The dutiable goods may, while in such storage also be manipulated by cleaning, sorting, repacking or changing their condition by processes that do not equate to manufacturing. The goods may then be re-exported without paying duty or they may be withdrawn for local consumption on payment of the applicable duty.

There are numerous other advantages of such a service including the flexibility to have imported shipments moved quickly from the wharf  for short-term storage, unpacking and deconsolidation and thereby avoiding the high storage charges otherwise applicable if the shipments were to remain indefinitely at the arrival port or air terminal.

Businesses utilize these services knowing their goods are also safe and secure-The holder of the warehouse licence is responsible for the safe custody and accounting of these goods to the satisfaction of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection-generally security personnel monitor these facilities 24 hours a day.Further,CCTV cameras and strict  inventory control systems  have traditionally been used to bolster the level of security on offer.More recently ATDC has seen a rise in demand for its expandable fencing which allows the bonded warehouse to secure the loading dock entries and thereby the perimeter of the facility whilst the other entry doors to these premises are unlocked and open. For further information on ATDC’s expandable fencing see www.trellisdoors.com.au/products/commercial-security/barriers-and-cafe-barriers

Being trackless and expandable, this expandable fencing does not interfere with the  controlled movement of freight trucks  or forklifts into and out of the bonded facility. The free standing expandable fencing is available in standard heights of either 2020mm or 2520mm-it is formidable and strong being manufactured from high tensile steel sections and with multi-point locking options.Running on a series of heavy duty 75mm non marking rubber wheels, the fencing is very easy to operate and has been tested for safety under the relevant OH+S legislation and the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoarding.Further compliance testing has been carried out for satisfying the relevant deeming provisions of the BCA for emergency egress where this is required. For further information see article at www.trellisdoors.com.au/our-retractable-security-doors-comply-with-deemed-to-satisfy-provisions-of-the-bca

ATDC’s expandable fencing is available for outright purchase or for hire on a short or long term basis. For further information on ATDC’s rental product visit www.trellisdoors.com.au/products/retractable-barriers-and-expandable-barriers

The image attached shows the recent installation of 2520mm high premium grade expandable fencing by ATDC at Seaway Logistics’ bonded warehouse facility  in Port Botany,Sydney ,Australia.

SUPPLIES CONCERTINA DOORS TO DELACOMBE TOWN CENTRE

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) is pleased to announce its involvement in the new Delacombe Town Centre,a $60 million shopping centre development at the corner of Glenelg Highway and Cherry Flat Rd,Ballarat, only an hour and a half drive to the centre of Melbourne.Anchor tenants at the site include Woolworths and Kmart as well as 35 smaller specialty stores,as well as a  500 seat,6 screen Showbiz cinema and medical centre.

ATDC has supplied its premium grade concertina doors to multiple tenancies at the centre including Direct Chemist Outlet,Tatts Lotto,Just Cuts,Toyland,Smart Dollar,Che Modea and more.

As the nominated door contractor for the centre,ATDC worked closely with developer and construction company H.Troon in ensuring timeous delivery under very tight deadlines of its concertina doors.

The concertina doors supplied by ATDC were primarily its 300mm wide panel FC1 model door which  is fabricated from heavy duty extruded aluminium sections with interlocking hinges  suspended from a rigid top support track by industrial grade hangars  allowing the curtain to fold in a low friction action making it easy to operate and giving it a longer lasting lifespan. For further information on  ATDC’s concertina doors view our product information page.Note that ATDC also manufactures a slimline 150mm wide concertina door panel where required. For further information on ATDC’s slimline panel door see article on the launch of the new Slimline Panel Accordion Door in Australia.

XPANDABLE SAFETY BARRIERS SOLVE SECURITY ISSUE FOR WESTFIELD CENTRE

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has solved a previously  problematic security issue for Australia’s leading shopping centre group and potentially for all other shopping centres (and similar high volume public entry points to buildings) across the nation.

A rise in the number of break and enters through the main entry doors into shopping centres in Australia has become a burning issue in recent times. This problem is further complicated by the fact that shopping centre entry doors normally fall within the restrictive deemed to satisfy provisions of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and its emergency egress requirements.Hence the difficulty of providing effective security screening which does not fall foul of this quite onerous legislation.

Westfield Doncaster in Melbourne have recently successfully trialled the installation of ATDC’s expandable safety barriers within the airlocks at the entrance to its main entrance in an effort to deter further break-ins to its shopping centre.

The expandable safety barriers  installed at Doncaster comply with the BCA’s deemed to satisfy provisions in all relevant respects namely:

i)the barrier has a height not less than 1980mm;

ii)the barrier does not diminish the existing unobstructed egress width of exits and paths of travel to exits with in the shopping centre;

iii)the barrier can slide open as well as swing open;

iv)numerous provisions relating to doorways serving as a  required exit or forming part of a required exit are not applicable since the barrier is instead a door in a path of travel to a required exit

v)it is readily openable without a key from the inside by a single downward action on a lever positioned approximately 1m from the floor; and

vi)the handle is of a type that the hand of a person who cannot grip wont slip;and the handle has clearance from the back plate of between 35mm and 45mm

ATDC has received an independent certification of compliance-For further information on ATDC’s BCA compliance see their  website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/barriers-and-cafe-barriers/safety-barriers-s04-1dd

ATDC manufactures a wide range of expandable safety barriers in both steel and aluminium depending on the particular application. These barriers are portable, trackless, lockable and free standing and are available in either a white or black powdercoated finish. The barriers comply with existing OH+S legislation for workplace safety and in certain instances they comply with the Australian Standards for Temporary Fencing and Hoarding including dynamic impact, foothold and simulated climbing tests. For further information on ATDC’s range of  barriers on offer visit ATDC’s website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/products/commercial-security/barriers-and-cafe-barriers

Suitable applications for ATDC’s expandable safety barriers include achieving temporary security for pop-up stores, kiosks and other temporary retail tenancies, access control for shopping centres and public buildings (such as railway stations and passenger terminals for instance at airports, ferry stations, bus terminals), Worksafe applications such as construction sites, sports stadiums, public events, entertainment venues, securing of warehouses and loading docks. ATDC’s expandable safety barriers are also available for hire on a long, medium term or short term basis.

High Profile Project at Singapore’s Changi International Airport

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently participated in a high profile project at Singapore’s Changi Airport newest terminal, Terminal 4 (T4).See images at www.trellisdoors.com.au/

Working closely with procurement specialist JEB Asia,ATDC has supplied its unique security grilles to eight tenancies at T4’s Heritage Zone, which showcases Singapore’s local culture and flavour to international passengers. The Heritage Zone in the transit area gives a glimpse into the evolution of shophouse architecture from the 1880s to the 1950s. Part of the job description included installing security grilles that would  complement the  traditional  façade of the pre-war shop houses built before the Second World War-below the shop houses were the retail shops whilst the second and third stories are residential units. There are preserved shop houses still in existence and they are  under heritage conservation in Singapore’s Katong and Chinatown areas. A further requirement was that the security grilles were to occupy as minimal an amount of storage space as was physically possible when unlocked and opened.

With the above objectives in mind,Changi Airport specified ATDC’’s S07-2- side- by -side retractable security grilles which are among the most space efficient commercial door systems currently available on the world market.By installing the top tracks of these security grilles in a parallel tandem top track configuration,ATDC was able to offer a lock up solution to its client which  occupied a mere  8% of the daylight opening spans of these tenancies.Furthermore, through the use of its seamless up/down locking mechanisms ATDC was able to provide  a lock up solution over considerably wide spans without the need for any cumbersome removeable mullions and without the need for any floor tracking to contain these doors.A further requirement was that the locking mechanisms on the security grilles had to be keyable to the specific master keying system at Changi Airport. For further information on ATDC’’s S07-2 security grilles visit ATDC’s website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/security-screens-and-screen-doors/scissor-doors-s07-2

A special precious silver pearl powdercoated finish is applied to blend in with the general finishes of the immediate surroundings of the Heritage Zone. Standard ATDC stock finishes include pearl white or satin black although any Dulux powdercoat finish can be achieved to match any individual colour scheme.

The security grilles we are all customer designed and fabricated  to specific sizes from dimensions that were  detailed on architectural and engineering drawings and they were then  attached  to  structural support frames designed in advance by JEB Asia in conjunction with ATDC.The installation was successfully completed and Changi Airport are a very satisfied customer.

ATDC sells its security grilles in Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane,Adelaide,Perth and Canberra as well as in all regional areas across Australia including Townsville,Darwin,Hobart,Newcastle and Geelong.ATDC also has a thriving export business with its security grilles now being sold throughout South East Asia and the Asia Pacific region  (including Vietnam,Hong Kong,Malaysia and Indonesia) ,as well as to the UAE,New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. For examples of other international projects which ATDC has participated in please visit ATDC’’s website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/export/singapore or see our article at www.trellisdoors.com.au/prestigious-new-installation-for-dfs-group

SMART COMMERCIAL ROLLER SHUTTERS RESOLVE OPEN AIR SMOKING LAWS FOR CLUB OPERATORS

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) has recently completed a large installation of commercial roller shutters at Cardiff RSL in the NSW Hunter Valley.

Specified by Newcastle firm EJE Architecture  and project managed by JMC Building, this project entailed  installing ATDC’’s electric operated widespan RS6 commercial roller shutters to numerous bar counters and poker machine room areas at the club. The purpose of the roller shutter installation was to weatherproof the outdoor gaming rooms, protect the poker machines as well as assist the club in complying with the legislation which prohibits smoking indoors in licensed premises and requires smoking areas to be open to the outdoors in order to allow the smoke to blow away.

The heavy duty commercial roller shutters installed by ATDC at Cardiff RSL allows the venue to move its poker machines into the covered outdoor areas which comply with the above mentioned smoking legislation and also  thereby securing

these areas during closing times against both intruders and the outdoor elements.

The RS6 widespan commercial roller shutters have a 77mm aluminium slat profile and can span up to 6000mm in one section without the need for multiple roller shutters with their normally unwieldy and cumbersome removeable mullions. The slat profile can be supplied in either a solid or a slotted section. In this particular installation the roller shutters were supplied with electric operation by way of keyswitch mechanisms which operated the shutters through a group control mechanism which allowed the roller shutters to operate either individually or as a series operating simultaneously.A back up battery was also installed to ensure that the shutters can still operate  in the event of a power  failure at the club. For further technical information on the RS6 commercial roller shutter please visit ATDC’’s website at www.trellisdoors.com.au/product/commercial-security/roller-shutters/external-window-shutters-rs5-and-rs6

Australian Domestic Security Grilles Now Exported to New Caledonia

The Australian Trellis Door Company (ATDC) is rapidly developing a reputation for its quality exports of security doors, security shutters and folding doors from Australia to The Asia Pacific, Southeast Asia and The Pacific Islands.

Domestic Security Grilles – Quality Exports

Whilst there is a vast predominance of commercial security grilles being exported to countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Fiji (amongst others) there is also a surprising trend of a growing demand for ATDC’s premium grade domestic security grilles for the residential market, particularly more recently in The Pacific Island nation of New Caledonia and its capital Noumea where there is a considerable level of break and entry into residential properties on the island.

High Quality and Cost Effective

ATDC’s focus is on producing both high quality and cost effective and competitive domestic security grilles which retract sideways completely out of the way when not in use and are easily concealed behind curtains or blinds. When locked and closed they create  a formidable deterrent with their triple contact locking mechanisms, full metal frames, heavy duty mesh infills and either stainless steel, brass or aluminium rivets which are used in a non-pivoting function to increase the strength and useful life of the security grilles. The locked and closed security grilles form an open grille which allows sunlight and ventilation to filter through keeping your home light and breezy in the hot summer months, also featuring an optional flyscreen to keep out those pesky insects and mosquitoes in the more humid climates. Further information is available in our blog article on the insect roll-way spring-loaded insect screens which are adapted to these security grilles.

Higher Level Security

ATDC’s domestic security grilles are ideal for securing wide span openings such as sliding glass bi-fold doors, patio doors, French doors and carports as well as also securing narrower passageways, alcoves, front doors and windows. Track arrangements are optional but recommended in areas where a higher level security is required. It’s important to note that floor tracks are able to be installed in ways that do not present a trip hazard to the homeowner (For instance recessing the bottom track or installing it alongside a window or door sill). For further applications for ATDC’s domestic security grilles read our article on gates for residential applications.

Fabrication Options

The domestic security grilles are fabricated in either a toughened galvanized steel or marine grade anodised aluminium and powdercoated in a high quality ultra violet resistant black satin or pearl white finish whilst other powdercoated options are available on request to match almost any colour scheme. Further information is available on ATDC’s full range of domestic security grilles.
